At Brave Path, our commitment is to create safer and more equitable communities using an intersectional approach and data-driven insights.
We believe in addressing gender-based violence with a comprehensive framework that recognizes the complex interplay of factors such as gender, race, class, sexual orientation, and disability. This intersectional approach allows us to develop more effective strategies and ensure that solutions lead to transforming systems and driving change at the individual level.
Data is at the core of our work, driving targeted strategies, impactful policy changes, and innovative solutions to complex problems. With Brave Path, you can trust that our projects are informed by both data and on-the-ground knowledge from stakeholders and collaborators.
We prioritize co-creating inclusive solutions with the communities most affected by the issues. No amount of data or innovation is sufficient if we don't involve those impacted. We are committed to using our expertise to make a meaningful impact, and together, we can collaborate to create a more equitable, safer, and inclusive future for all.
Let's work together to create lasting change.

Darci is a fierce advocate and dynamic leader with a passion for addressing complex social issues through collaborative partnerships in the non-profit, private, and public sectors. Her career has been shaped by a strong commitment to addressing gender and racial inequities in order to eradicate gender-based violence and human trafficking. With extensive experience in policy and advocacy, program development, and strategic planning, Darci has worked relentlessly to foster positive change in communities.
Most recently, Darci served as the first Director of Gender-based Violence Strategy & Policy in the Mayor’s Office for the City of Chicago where she co-designed a first of its kind citywide strategic plan to address gender-based violence and human trafficking with community leaders, survivors, and City officials. Prior to joining the Mayor’s Office in 2019, Darci was the Associate Director of the Freedom from Trafficking program at Heartland Human Care Services, which served immigrant survivors of human trafficking. In this work, Darci became a local and national expert on trauma-informed care for survivors of human trafficking. Darci has developed training materials and facilitated workshops for educators, law enforcement, attorneys, judges, medical professionals, social service agencies, and government officials across the country with an aim to build a multi-disciplinary approach when addressing gender-based violence and human trafficking.
Darci has collaborated with lawmakers, grassroots organizations, and community leaders to bring about meaningful and sustainable change. This has included passing legislation in Chicago aimed at strengthening measures against sexual harassment to foster safer workplaces; expanding paid time off for all workers; mandating equitable contracts for employers of domestic workers to uphold the dignity and safety of their profession; expanding access to public benefits to undocumented survivors of serious crimes; and broadening the City of Chicago’s paid parental leave policy to include 12 weeks of paid time off for both non-birth and birth parents as well as in adoptions, foster care, and surrogacy.
Darci has a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago and a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Justice Studies from the University of New Hampshire. She lives in West Lakeview with her husband, five year old twin boys, and dog, Auggie.
